Has your PC or laptop slowed down over time?. Is it showing errors messages and virus popups that you didn’t expect to be seeing? Then it might be the time you thought about a PC optimization.trying to open a document. As well, you may see strange error messages for example, notifying you of a missing file especially during your computer’s startup sequence. Your first instinct might be to blame it on a virus attack; and this could very well be true. What many people do not realize though is that sometimes, all your computer needs is an optimization to restore performance back to its optimal state. Many people donot know what to do and they take them to techies and get charged a high price for their work. Have you thought that if you can fix it at without paying a high price?

Yes you can!!!.

It can be done using a PC optimization software. Now, if you are familiar with the computer operating system, you will agree that it contains so much information that a manual cleanup is time taking, highly technical and often impractical. There are many softwares available today that can help you perform a thorough optimization and cleanup. During each optimization, these tools scan for junk files, duplicate files, temporary files, uninstall leftovers, dead links, One of the main causes of computer crashes is the storage of junk files that were only required once and no more. A PC optimization can identify the location of these junk files and guide you through the process of discarding them without tampering your personal system files. Performing a PC optimization often is usually the best way to go so that you can quickly nip in the bud any potential problems.

The registry is the backbone of your computer’s operating system. One wrong click and your PC could immediately crash, your files could get corrupted and your PC could die as well. Even though we think the makers of PC optimization tools are experts, you cannot trust them because at the end of the day, if anything goes wrong the responsible person will be you. For your knowledge, some optimization tools contain malware and only use the name “optimizer” as a means to gain access onto your computer.

There are several ways through which you can protect yourself from such bad effects of a PC optimization.First of all, before trying to run or download any kind of optimization softwares onyour PC, check to see the reviews of the application. Secondly, obtain the advice of a friend that is a techie, ask the service of a computer expert to advice you on which tool they use or ask them which product is good for your PC.

I suggest, do not be afraid to spend on things which is worth buying. With so much freeware available on the internet that promises to do just about anything, it is very tempting to just download and start using any PC optimizer application. Freewares are not bad, but why take the risk?. Think, cost should never be your main preference for selecting the tool to use for the PC optimization.

So you want to fix corrupt registry? Who wouldn’t. Especially when it plagues almot every computer at some point in its lifecycle.

Computers do a lot of internal tasks everyday. Every working minute they are bombarded with in coming downloaded files, viruses and other threats. This, overtime clogs up the hard drive and slows down the computer. If the problem is not addressed soon enough the computer will crash.

Now when the inevitable happens there are three ways to go about bringing back normalcy. You could, if you have confidence in your expertise do it manually. This is where by you clean your junk files and leave the important data alone.

It will take a lot more than deleting files to the recycle bin. To be honest that reycle bin does not get rid of the files permanently in my opinion. I have tried to get rid of a file via recycle bin and a month later the file shows up again.

But i have to stress, if you want to fix corrupt registry by yourself you have to be an expert because if you mistakenly delete an important file you will have not just lost good stuff but it will increase to your aggravation of problems.

The second way to fix corrupt registry is by hiring experts called technicians to do it for you. But this method is very expensive and unless you have a fat bank balance it is not the best way to go.

Then theere is a third and in my opinion the most cost effective way to repair your computer. This entails purchasing superior software to do the job.

But how will you know which software will best suit your needs when there are quite a few on the market? You would have to review a few of the best ones before you make an informed decision on which one to buy.

Computer repairs and computer maintenance are interconnected but they are like the two ends of a seesaw. As far as the maintenance end remains high, the repairs end will remain low and there will be very little need for repairs. In the same way, when the maintenance end is low, that is, when it is not optimum, the repairs end will be very high.Even if you buy the best model of computer available in the market, it may not be possible to avoid computer repairs altogether. But it will definitely be possible to reduce repairs if you can follow the simple rules of computer maintenance correctly.

A very easy to follow computer maintenance rule is running a routine virus scan. The antivirus program can be set to do the scanning daily or weekly as the user chooses. It is also important to update the program regularly to keep pace with the malicious codes that are trying to keep ahead of these counteracting programs. Most of the virus removal software is today set to receive updates at regular intervals.

Almost all antivirus programs can block malware that have identifiable signatures. Some antivirus programs will also have added features that can further reduce the need for computer repairs. Some will help the user to detect whether a site is safe enough to be visited, or a program is safe enough to be installed. Some antivirus programs will identify even malware that does not have a known signature. They are able to identify it by the way the program is acting. There are many web sites that provide comparison charts of antivirus programs to enable the user to choose the one he needs.

Regular cleaning of the registry will also help in computer maintenance, and in limiting the number of computer repairs. While those who have sound knowledge of computer technology may be able to manage this even manually, for the others registry cleaning software is available that will take care of routine cleaning. It will do the scanning of the registry, will repair the damaged files, and remove the unwanted ones. Users should ideally choose a registry cleaning software that is user friendly and for which steady customer support is available.

Data proofing by backing up data to an external hard drive is also a part of computer maintenance. When data is secure, it is less risky to run various cleanup programs. Further, outside storage devices are a better place for files that occupy lots of space and are not required for daily use. The data will remain safe and the process will free space within the computer.

Freeing disk space, both by using external storage devices, and also by deleting unnecessary files and programs, is also important in computer maintenance. External drives that are fireproof and water proof are available in the market. There are also online storage services that provide space for saving data online. This is a very handy system since users can access files stored on storage web sites from anywhere in the world. There is not even the bother of carrying a CD or an external drive along.

Programs that do automatic driver updates are also suggested for easy computer maintenance. As drivers are crucial for the synchronized action of both the hardware and software components of a computer, it is important that they are at their performance best and are kept updated. The driver update program will scan the system, identify the drivers that are becoming out of date, and will generate the necessary downloads. There are plenty of tools that can effectively minimize computer repairs.

Virus is annoying and may cause a serious damage to your computer or laptop but now there are numerous tips following which, you can easily remove or avoid it. If you are unable to access your antivirus software or you keep seeing the same malware again and again after multiple scans then you may need to start your computer in Safe Mode. Most of the computers viruses store files in Windows registry folder because this folder is a database of instructions and sends the handy information to the operating system about all the programs stored on your computer. It can also activate virus soon as you logon to your operating system. Starting your system with Safe mode allows you to work with your machine using only the necessary elements of the OS.

Virus removal is not an easy task. You can try to access your antivirus software in Safe Mode. If you see new malware pop up in the Safe Mode, then you can delete this malware with the help of your software. Some malware only download and install other type of malwares on your system.

If your antivirus software is still unable to remove the virus then it is time to do a little more research on your system. You must make a list of all the malwares which your software detects and then search each of those files online using the relevant Internet and Computer security firm. Ensure to use the same firm that produces the antivirus program you are using. This is because various firms sometimes give the same antivirus with different names.

It had always been accepted that prevention is better than cure. Rather than getting infected by this virus, it is better to prevent it. Most of the viruses does not damages your files but might just annoy you . For any virus removal, you need to download and install antivirus software from Internet. You must install all of its latest updates and scan your computer using the antivirus program. You must also install Malwarebytes and Superantispyware software. Also make sure that both software installed in your system have current updates. Running a scan using these two software will help in removing all the Spywares or Malwares if found.

Further, for accessing Internet, you must use browsers, such as Firefox and Google Chrome, which are known for protecting your PC from websites that can contaminate it from viruses.

Don’t you wish your computer ran as fast now as it did when it was new? So how does a computer that runs so fast out of the box become slow? You probably did it to yourself and do not know it. Computers have to store all sorts of configuration and setup data every time you install a new program. There are thousands of free software downloads, plugins, toolbars and the like available on-line, and most people install at least a few of these programs.

You can un-install these programs, but often even doing that leaves traces behind. These traces are in the form of invalid Windows registry entries. So your computer has a program listed in its registry, but no longer exists on the hard drive. You PC wastes valuable processing time trying to locate these now-missing programs, resulting in a slowdown.

Computer cleanup software can be your answer. These tools scan your system for invalid and incorrect registry issues and fix them automatically. Many of the tools can be downloaded instantly over the web for a small fee. The best ones identify all of the common issues and result in a complete computer cleanup. Software like this can help you keep your PC running healthy and fast.

Don’t put up with a slow computer any more. If you noticed your machine is not the speed demon it used to be when it was new, try one of the fine computer cleanup software titles available on the web. Pick a highly-rated one with a good guarantee. You’ll be back to computing at full speed in no time.

For users that have had to contend with the problem of Malware, you are aware of the time and elbow grease that it takes to get the problem fixed. If you have not been hit with any form of Malware, consider yourself very lucky, but you should realize that there is a big chance that at one time you will run the risk of your computer getting it. As a repair tech, it is painful to even tell you how involved a task it is to get a computer that has been infected with Malware running the way it was before the infection. To fix this problem, I have to spend a huge amount of time and labor and the repair bill is often steep. This is the reason I really want you to be informed about the current Malware removal websites that are available on the Internet now.

Even though I get paid well to repair these issues, I do not like charging for costly repairs like this. The good news is, there are many new websites that charge a lot lessthan I charge to fix a computer, and they do a really great job.

Here is the way these Malware cleaning web sites work:

To begin, you go on to a site that offers a Malware tool that examines your PC. When the examination is completed, you will be informed whether you have Malware of any kind on your PC, like backdoor programs, trojans, or worms that could be contaminating your PC. When scan job is done, the next button should be clicked to permit the software clean any infection that is on your computer.

These sites maintain a massive, up to date database of the most recent threats to your PC. Since websites such as these have enormous databases that consistently keep all Malware definitions up to date, they can keep your computer clear of the current threats to the security of your computer. Every single day there are current threats created and these sites need to be your best line of protection against them. After everything has been scanned and cleaned, you need to make sure that you run checks regularly to be certain that the Malware doesn’t harm your system again.

And that is how you circumvent hiring a PC repair guy like myself to fix your computer. You will also save a whole lot of money by using one of these sites.

For the average user a spyware fix entails downloading some kind of protection program, scheduling the scans, & mentally jogging away from the problem. However, a recent web blog suggests that not all programs get everything, as well as a mixture of programs may be beneficial.

Unfortunately, I recently read that spyware often get clogged. Then, it fails to adequately protect a computer. So, another program should also be implemented to catch what the first one might have missed. In addition, sometimes when questionable application should have already been removed, it will pop back up after the computer has been rebooted.

Admittedly, I am not a computer geek. I learned to use the computer mostly by trial & error. i have learned some information regarding how a computer works, & what I need to look for in assets & liabilities. But, for the most part, I count on the scan to keep me safe.

However, I won’t go as far as to download a third & fourth application program to protect my computer. i have saved all of my files for the last 10 years. I do not need to run out of room for the new stuff I will develop or download for further use.

what is up with that? Am I safe, or not? what are the options available to make certain my computer is safe. Well, i have decided to go back to CNET.com, my trusted site for downloads, & checked. SpotZilla is one of their top-rated application downloads designed to kill all infections on contact. So, why not give it a shot, & have a second scan.

So, if you’re truly interested in a spyware fix, & you’re afraid the current program might miss something. Go ahead & have seven. Surely, the five programs will alternately protect the computer & keep the other from getting clogged so to speak.

There are several ways in which viruses and spyware can invade your computer. Some spyware prefer to attack the computer by installing a program that pops up and asks you to purchase it. Others take the route of manipulating the drivers inside the computer to trick them into thinking the virus is one. If someone was to simply go to the device manager and look for a virus, you would not be able to see it because it is a hidden device. Luckily you have Tom to walk you through the removal of these little critters. WARNING: This is the most extreme type of virus and cannot be fully manually removed. We do recommend that after using the guide you download Malwarebytes and do a full scan just to make sure the virus is gone.

First you need to navigate to the Device Manager. That can be done by going to Start -> Right-Click My Computer -> Press Properties. Navigate to the Hardware tab and then press Device Manager.

Once you have found the device manager, you need to go to “View” and select Show Hidden Devices. This will show all of the hidden device drivers in the system, and where the viruses are hiding.

Now that you have found all of the hidden devices, you need to look for “Non-Plug and Play Drivers”. Explorer through these drivers until you find one with a Yellow (!) next to it. Most likely this driver is a virus, however sometimes they will hide using odd looking names. I have seen “UAC”, “UAV”, “DNS Driver”, ETC. Anything that looks out of the ordinary could possibly be a spyware or virus program.

Notice in this specific example, a virus creator has renamed his script “Panda File Shield Driver”. To an average computer user, this looks like the normal panda driver, however it is indeed a virus. Once you have found the virus inside of the device manage, proceed to right click and press “Disable“. Now that the virus has been disabled, you need to restart and run Malwarebytes. Disabling the virus will most likely allow you to get online temporarily, however it will eventually come back.

Symantec released their MessageLabs Intelligence report for May on the 28th, and the news is far from good. The Symantec analysis indicates that spam rates increased 5.1% just from April. This means that more than 9 of every 10 e-mails is spam, at a total of 90.4%.

For the very first time, Symantec also noted that the time in which you actually receive the spam depends on your geographic location. The research was conducted over a seven day period and shows the following to be true.

1. US residents see spam mostly between 9 and 10am local time.
2. Europeans are most likely t oreceive a steady stream of spam throughout the full day.
3. Those in the Asia-Pacific region start the day with a full mailbox of spam and less throughout the day.

Paul Wood, MessageLabs Intelligence Senior said

“These patterns suggest that spammers are more active during the US working day. This could be because most active spammers are based in the US, according to data from Spamhaus, or because this is when the spammers’ largest target audience is online and likely to respond.”

Unsettlingly, MessageLabs Intelligence also realized that cyber criminals are starting to favor elderly and well-established domains to host their spyware and viruses. 84.6% of domains restricted in May for hosting destructive content were well-established domains more than a year old.

Wood said:

“Spammers using better-known and thus more widely trusted web sites to host malware is reminiscent of the spammers who rely on well-known webmail and social networking environments to host spam content. The trustworthy older domains can be compromised through SQL injection attacks while newer sites are more likely to be flagged as suspicious — a temporary site set up with the sole purpose of distributing spam and malware — and thus faster to get shutdown.”

Highlights of the report:

Web security: Analysis of web security activity shows that 34.2 percent of all web-based malware intercepted was new in May. MessageLabs Intelligence also identified an average of 1,149 new web sites per day harboring malware and other potentially unwanted programs such as spyware and adware, a decrease of 67.7 percent since April (some good news at least).

Spam: In May 2009, the global ratio of spam in email traffic from new and previously unknown bad sources was 90.4 percent (1 in 1.11 emails), an increase of 5.1 percent since April.

Viruses: The global ratio of email-borne viruses in email traffic from new and previously unknown bad sources was one in 317.8 emails (0.31 percent), a decrease of 0.01 percent since April. In May, 7.0 percent of email-borne malware contained links to malicious sites, a decrease of 6.3 percent since April.

Phishing: One in 279.7 emails (0.36 percent) comprised some form of phishing attack, an increase of 0.11 percent in the proportion of phishing attacks compared with April. When judged as a proportion of all email-borne threats such as viruses and Trojans, the number of phishing emails had remained unchanged at 89.7 percent of all email-borne malware and phishing threats intercepted in May.

Beware of spam because the messages can and will include viruses and spyware to infect your computer. This technique has been used for over a decade now and will continue to get worse and worse over time.
